IT Manufacturers
As a manufacturer of Electrical
or Electronic equipment (EEE), if you are selling
or supplying your product within the EU you will
soon have to meet your obligations under the Waste
Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) Directive
as a Producer.
The directive is expected to come
into force in early 2006. As such, under this
directive, you may have to take the responsibility
for the recycling of both new equipment produced
after the 13th August 2005, and old equipment
produced before this date where you have replaced
it with "like for like" products.
Producers are responsible for
financing the collection, treatment, recycling
and recovery of WEEE. These requirements are called
'producer responsibility' and they apply to both
household and non-household WEEE, although alternative
financial arrangements can be made for non-household
WEEE. The government has said it will implement
these producer responsibility obligations from
January 2006.
Selway Moore appreciate the impact legislation
will have on your business. Whether you need advice
or assistance in setting up an in-house remarketing
or recycling scheme, or looking to contract out
your recycling needs or need help in selecting
the best "Compliance Scheme" for your
business, Selway Moore can help.
