Background
Householders and businesses in
the UK throw at least one million tonnes of electrical
and electronic equipment (EEE) away each year,
and this figure is estimated to be growing by
up to 80,000 tonnes annually.
The recycling and treatment of
EEE is not currently undertaken to a sufficient
extent, so the introduction of new rules such
as the WEEE
Directive has been implemented to reverse
this trend.
Now, more than ever, these changes
are affecting the way Business's and Organisation
can dispose of their old electrical and electronic
equipment. With the introduction of new laws (the
WEEE
Directive, Hazardous Waste Regulations, Duty
of Care and the Data Protection Act) business
leaders and managers are having to look closely
at what they have done in the past, and consider
what their actions in the future should be, to
remain compliant and within the law.
All recycling processes
conducted by Selway Moore not only comply with the WEEE
Directive, but actually exceed its recommendations.
Our objective is clear, 100% Recycling and Client
Compliance with regards to all laws associated
with WEEE.
